So I turned 23 yesterday. đł I’m not quite sure when all this growing up occurred. In honor of my golden birthday, I thought I’d share a few lessons I’ve learned (and am still learning) at this point in my life. So without further ado, here they are (in no particular order):
- Cultivate gratitude.
- Invest in your relationships.
- Work hard, stay humble.
- Know the difference between an inner circle and acquaintances.
- #TreatYoSelf.
- Itâs never too late to make a change. If you donât like an aspect of your life and you can do something about it, do something about it!
- Your mental health is critical. Donât overlook it.
- Become customer service-savvy. You gotta know how to finesse for what you want!
- Take care of your body. You only get one.
- Not all friendships are for life. Accepting this fact will save you a lot of stress and emotional turmoil.
- Take control of your finances! Or else they will control you.
- Donât let your first impression of someone taint the way you see them. People are multi-faceted – too often, we only get to see the exterior layer and proceed to make up our minds about them just like that.
- It pays to be a go-getter. Donât wait for opportunities to find you.
- Always say thank you. Itâs just the polite thing to do.
- Eat that frog.
- Self-reflection is crucial to your growth.
- Pick your battles!!!
- Try new things every now and then. If you hate it, at least youâll know that itâs not for you. If you love it, youâve discovered a new interest.
- âYou wonât get much done if you only grind on the days you feel good.â
- Please know your worth. I know this is a phrase that has been repeated to the point of sounding trite, but a deep realization of your worth will change the way you think. Honestly, I could write an entire blog post on this subjectâŚand I think I will.
- Be quick to resolve conflicts. Letting the sun âgo down on your angerâ really takes a toll on the relationship.
- Give people the benefit of the doubt. Things are rarely as they appear.
- At the end of the day, your walk with God is all that really matters.
I’m so thankful to God for allowing me to see another year. Honestly it feels like I’m growing faster than I can keep up with myself. I hope that some of these lessons resonate with you. Leave a comment and let me know which ones did!
I’ve never heard of eat that frog! And that’s an amazing tip that I’m gonna try!

Yeah I just recently heard about the book a couple months ago at a professional development workshop. I feel like it may be the cure for procrastination!
